Mr. Baumgarten is a San Diego native and the son of two long –time high school teachers, John Baumgarten (Athletic Director and Varsity Baseball coach at Hilltop High School from 1963 to 2003) and Marilou Baumgarten (English Literature at Hilltop High School 1964 to 1969 and Castle Park High School 1969 to 2004).
Mr. Baumgarten attended Bonita Vista High School and went on to graduate from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in political science in 1992. Mr. Baumgarten graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1995.
After being admitted to practice in December 1995, Mr. Baumgarten connected with Mr. Yale, forming a formidable duo of experience and energy. In 2000, Mr. Baumgarten became a name partner in the firm.
Over the years Mr. Baumgarten has gained considerable litigation and appellate experience in a wide variety of matters in both state and federal courts, including business and real estate litigation, insurance coverage, professional liability, and trust and probate litigation. Mr. Baumgarten also does a substantial amount of transactional work, helping clients to form businesses, draft contracts, and resolve issues before they become problems.
In his free time, Mr. Baumgarten is involved in the community in youth sports and as an advisor to the Eastlake Educational Foundation. He enjoys playing golf, woodworking, and spending time with his kids, Mike and Michelle.
